MAXIMIZING
YOUR MANGO SALES
Dramatic Displays: Ripe mangos are very fragrant.
Mound ripe mangos in large displays to draw attention with
their enticing scent. Our mangos' quality makes for a very
attractive front store view or aisle display. Consider grouping
mangos with other tropical fruit for special occassions, such
as Cinco De Mayo.
Consumer Needs: A large portion of shoppers are spending
less time in the grocery store and in the kitchen so it is
important to accommodate their needs. Easy-to-grab recipe
cards (shown below) provide recipes that are easy to prepare.
Once they taste our mangos, we guarantee customers will be
coming back looking for more!
Sampling:
Have a demonstrator show the method of cutting
a mango and pass on tips about storage and ripening. Provide
toothpicks for tasting cubes and pass out our recipe
cards.
Information: On-shelf labels or signs can give brief
descriptions of each mango variety on display, along with
useful tips such as "ripe when green" for the Kent
and Keitt varieties. Our recipe cards show consumers how to
use mangos and provide nutritional information.
Label mangos in store that are ready to eat, to help promote
quick sale. The aroma near the stem end of the mango is a
sign of ripeness. Mangos often grow softer as they ripen.
Mango connoisseurs like mangos that have begun to shrivel
a sign of maximum sweetness. As the consumer gains
an understanding of how to choose a mango they will come to
know what to expect from our product: Only the BEST!
Creative Pricing: Introduce a two-variety program.
For instance, merchandise large mangos at a profitable price
while promoting smaller mangos with multiple pricing (e.g.
three for a dollar). Be careful not to price the mangos too
low! Research shows that customers question the quality of
the produce when prices are slashed drastically.
Packaging: Our new clam contains 4 or 6 mangos in
an attractive plasic container, or mangos can be packaged
in our boxes, bags or in RPCs for easy handling.
